Dazzling Late Summer Roses

Dazzling Late Summer Roses
Summer has many attractions.  Somewhere on the list, for many people, is the chance to enjoy the delicate beauty of roses blooming.  Their large and fragrant blooms are a popular favorite for flower gardens everywhere.  There is just something hypnotizing about the smell and the multiple layers of petals which captivates the hearts of lovers and artists everywhere.  Cramer Imaging found some lovely fresh blooms just begging to be photographed and we just had to pull out the camera.

I love roses.  They are one of my absolute favorite flowers.  Year after year I have been aching to have a totally striking, beautiful, and classic photo of a rose for my portfolio.  Year after year I have been disappointed.  Either the roses we got didn't work out as a subject or I got out too late with my camera and the opportunity was lost.  Scoring an epic photograph of a rose has eluded me for some time.  But I have kept up hope.  After all, practice makes perfect.

The climbing roses outside have been having an off year.  There have not been as many roses blooming as in previous years.  When the rose bush outside sprouted some new buds, I kept my eyes open for when they would start blooming.

My patience and practice was finally rewarded.  One of the buds opened into a beautiful rose flower.  I loved it so much that I had to grab my camera immediately to take some pictures of it.

The green of the leaves behind it was still fresh and crisp.  The rose was open to just where I wanted it to be.  I was incredibly fortunate to walk out when the light and other factors were perfect.

All the times I tried and failed finally paid off for me all at once.  It was such a feeling of triumph when I reviewed everything I shot and found several potential images I could use.  Not only did I manage to score one photograph for the portfolio, I managed to score three and I love them all.

Tip for Gardeners: Rose bushes bloom early in the summer and that is generally it unless properly maintained.  If the old blooms are removed after they die, then the bush will sprout more and bloom again.  That is what we did with this rose bush.  This is why we had the bush bloom again so late in the season.  With proper care, the bush will dazzle us all summer long and for many years to come.
