Early Spring Flowers Arrived

Early Spring Flowers Arrived
Winter is losing its touch for this season.  Things are thawing out and the snow is disappearing.  The wind has kicked up.  The frost has left the ground.  These are all signs of early spring in this neck of the woods.  The final sign is that the early spring flowers are appearing from their cozy cocoons in the ground.  Time has come to pull out the camera again.

Among the earliest of the spring flowers are the crocuses.  These lovely little purple and white flowers are the first to pop out in the flower beds here.  They only last for three to four weeks and then they are gone.

While they are here, sadly, there are no other flowers blooming with which to pair them.  There is, however, lots of greenery waking up and reanimating the chlorophyll with the lengthening sunlight.

I had been staring at these lovely blooms for a week or so just waiting for it to be warm enough to brave a photo session.  Just when it was warm enough to do so, the sun would break through the clouds and spoil the lighting conditions.  Direct sun is the worst for photographic work such as this.

After putting off my photo shoot for a few more days, I finally had a warm enough day with some cloud cover.  I grabbed my camera and scooted off to shoot pictures of these crocuses.  I had forgotten the wind though.  In between gusts, I was able to shoot some tack sharp photos of the flowers I had been wanting to collect since last year.

These beautiful fine art purple crocuses are a perfect addition to my portfolio.  I hope that you like them as much as I do.  Happy spring.
