Photo of the Week 41

Photo of the Week 41
Sometimes the most amazing and breath-taking photographs we can find and take are right in our own back yard (or front yard).  Such is the story behind this lovely featured "Photo of the Week" for this week.

The weather had been cold lately as summertime was coming to an end for the year.  I was beginning the agony of regret that comes from the good weather being over for several more months.  I still wanted to photograph something and started looking for the perfect subject.  I found it outside in the garden.

This is not the first time that something just outside my door has been amazing enough for me to photograph.  I did have some idea that good things can be right under my nose from time to time.  The trick was making sure that I could get the kind of photograph that I was envisioning and make sure that it was sharp as well.

Since sharpness in an outdoor setting photograph is always a concern, I opted for the tripod for that extra balance and stability.  This photograph was not a wide-angle shot so I needed my telephoto lens with the macro setting to get it right.

The wind was kindly not a factor of concern or impediment this time but I did have other issues to worry about.  The sunlight was dying off for the day so the shutter needed to be open a bit longer for a proper exposure.  There were also a few items of garbage or other leaves which needed to be rearranged or removed altogether to make my vision work.

With all the issues addressed, I released the button on my cable release cord and captured this fine art nature photograph of bright red snapdragons.
