Nature's Red Carpet

Nature's Red Carpet
Mother Nature continues to roll out the red carpet this year with all kinds of gorgeous flowers to behold.  It began with crocuses and continued with tulips and daffodils and extended to fruit tree blossoms as well.  Now we feature some of the other beautiful and celebrity flowers of spring.

First up is this dandelion puff turned rags to riches.  While it is well past its prime as a flower and ready to seed the world with more weed, there is still some amazing photographic opportunities to be had before the wind blows all the seeds away.  A shallow depth of field really makes this seed head pop from the background of the grass.

Next, we are featuring more from the shy and delicate bleeding hearts bush.  It is still in full bloom and displaying its ornamental pink and white blooms.  They are something to behold both alone and together proving their spring flower celebrity status both times over.

Thanks to the bush growing bigger with the season, there was plenty of foliage to frame in with the flowers for a different feel than the last example I did of bleeding hearts.  This version feels more natural to me than the last does.

The flowers are not over yet this year by any means.  This is highly evident in our next flower feature.

Another of the later glories of spring are the irises.  Their bold form and large size are difficult to miss.

Choice of backdrop for this shot was an interesting challenge.  Thanks to how tall they are, compared to other flowers, I could not easily change the backdrop I was photographing them against.  This nearby dead tree stump served the purpose very well.

As spring rolls into summertime, nature will continue dazzle and amaze us.  We will keep photographing what we find to share with all of you.
