Photo of the Week 44

Photo of the Week 44
We absolutely love the photograph that we are featuring for this Friday's "Photo of the Week."  It is a lovely side view of a pink rose wet with water droplets.  It is yet another case of finding beautiful and photo-worthy subject material right outside the door.

Just outside the front door, we have a couple of flower beds.  One of those beds has a climbing rose bush.  That bush had given beautiful roses much earlier in the summer season.  We enjoyed them while they lasted.

After round one died off, the bush did not produce any more for several weeks.  Finally, towards the end of the season, and after some pruning, out came another bright pink bloom for us to enjoy.

Thanks to the positions of other plants in the bed and the presence of less than photogenic stair rails, getting this angle on the rose was not easy to do.  It required some delicate balancing and avoiding of the iris plants.

Once in position, there was still something missing from the composition.  I requested my spray bottle and proceeded to cover the flower with water droplets.  That added that special something I was missing.

Using the macro setting on my telephoto lens, I was able to get in close with the rose while removing the nearby undesirable elements from within the frame.  A little flash and I was able to get the proper lighting for the rose as the subject.
