Perfect Light and Temple Spires

Perfect Light and Temple Spires
Ever had one of those moments where it feels like the universe wanted you to do something amazing?  Does it seem like everything just came together in the right way and at the right time?  We just had one of those moments a couple of weeks ago.  The light was perfect when we reached our destination and we got the shot.

I had this feeling that I needed to go and shoot some cover art for a piece I had been working on for months.  I had the idea but didn't act on it for weeks.  Then one day, I simply could not forget that I needed to go take that shot.  No matter what I tried, I couldn't forget the thought.

When my spouse returned home and wanted to go on a photo shoot, I knew exactly which subject I wanted to take pictures of.  I needed to go get a photograph of an LDS temple spire with the Angel Moroni.

We looked up the time that the sun was going to set because we wanted that warm and diffuse light for this shot.  We found out that we had just enough time to load up the car and drive up to Idaho Falls before the sun set that day.  So, we got to work loading and driving.

When choosing the angle, we noticed that the light was beautiful and amazing on one side of the temple but left the spire in shadow on the other.  Very fortunately, the side I wanted was the side in the sunlight.  I set up and started shooting photos.

The light was done shortly afterwards.  We were glad to have made the trip and not risked trying another local temple since the light would have failed us.
