Photo of the Week 57

Photo of the Week 57
It's time.  The time, once again, has arrived.  We won't keep you in suspense for long.  It's time for Cramer Imaging's featured "Photo of the Week" announcement.  This week, we chose to highlight this picture of a juicy red apple still clinging to the tree branch.

Thanks to a wind storm in a previous year, I had to resort to my telephoto lens for this shot.  The branch which provided fruit closer to the ground had rotted out and broken off over the fence.  It had to go but, in so doing, deprived me of the easiest low-handing fruit as photo subjects.

It was a terribly bright and sunny day.  Normally, I like this kind of weather but not for fine art nature photography purposes.  It was also a little bit on the breezy side which made it difficult for clear and sharp photographs at the wrong moments.

I had a difficult time finding an apple which was still attached to the tree and in a position where I could get a good view.  This apple was low enough that I could get a reasonable angle on it while it was still on the tree.

The next issue was that I had chosen a view where my subject (the apple) was backlit.  This meant that I had to use some flash for proper lighting.  It took several attempts to get all the settings dialed in for this beautiful exposure.  Once I got it set correctly, all I had to do was wait for a break in the wind and this shot was born.
