Photo of the Week 63

Photo of the Week 63
Halloween may be tomorrow, but I'm really missing some of the warmer weather of summer.  So, I thought I would do something really spooky and feature something totally non-sequitur as our "Photo of the Week."  So, be prepared to be scared out of your wits when I tell you that this week we are featuring a photograph of a flower!

Yep, you read correctly.  We are featuring a flower as our "Photo of the Week."  In fact, this flower photo was actually taken in the Fall even though it might look like a beautiful summertime bloom.

Thanks to just how cold it gets up here in Pocatello, this photo could not be taken locally.  It was, in fact, taken at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah.  We had business there to take care of so we also made plans to stop off and try for some photos.  It was too good of an opportunity to miss.

I loved seeing flowers out in bloom this late in the year.  They had not yet been touched by frost.  I was trying for lots of different photos of flowers I didn't have access to already.

This seemingly lonely little blossom was actually part of a large planter bed.  It was just long enough and at just the right angle to isolate it from all the rest.  The grey of the background which you see is actually the stone wall of the temple itself.

Thanks to a little evening breeze, this flower was a bit difficult to get and keep in focus.  I had to try several times before I could take this particular picture.  Still, my perseverance paid off in the end.  I went home happily with this photograph in the bag.
