The First Snowfall of 2015

The First Snowfall of 2015
A couple of days before the big Fall feast of Thanksgiving, we had our first kiss of winter.  A storm dumped about six inches of snow on us.  The temperatures dipped into the 20s so the snow has stayed for the past several days.  It was a chance for some fresh snow photos which I couldn't miss.

I had been trying to decide what was worth taking my camera out and shooting pictures of.  It can be a really difficult decision sometimes.  I must see the right subject matter or try and find it on the spur of the moment.

The problem was that we had the feast to prepare so I had no time to take pictures until after it was taken care of.  With the holiday over and done with for the year, I turned my attention to the snow again.

While snow has a tendency to not stay where it falls, unless that location is the ground, I noticed that it was still on some pine branches out back.  Pine trees and snow have a well known relationship in winter-themed photos after all.

This was the perfect subject but the light was never right.  When I did get that perfect light, I made sure that I grabbed my camera and went out in the cold for some photography work.
