Photo of the Week 89

Photo of the Week 89
Yay, it's another happy Friday.  It's time for the weekend again.  But just before you get some plans together to for this evening, take a minute or two to enjoy Cramer Imaging's selected "Photo of the Week."  This week, we are pleased to feature this lovely close-up photograph of an apple blossom about ready to bloom.

When the weather warms up, it's time for spring flowers to bloom and await pollination from the bees.  When they do open, they also make for beautiful photo subjects.  Such was the case for this apple flower getting ready to open up to the world.

I wanted to have some fun with my camera and practice my photography skills one day last spring.  That day yielded this photo for my portfolio.  I selected this apple tree on which to practice my up-close and macro photography skills.

This flower was ideally situated on the tree.  I did have to worry about the background.  I had to play with my standing position in order to remove unwanted elements from the frame.  Once I did, I found that I needed to isolate the flower from the background as the focal point.  Isolating the flower was easy with a shallow depth of field thanks to a wide aperture.

The brief clouds in the sky softened the light in just the right way for this shot.  The light really brought out the green tones in both the leaves of the apple tree and the grass behind it.
