Photo of the Week 108

Photo of the Week 108
It's Friday again and sadly, it's still during work hours.  There is good news though: the weekend is still coming.  In the mean time, it's time for Cramer Imaging to announce our featured "Photo of the Week" for this week.  Perhaps it will brighten the rest of your work day just a little bit until five o' clock arrives.  This week, we wrap up our fair week features.

Sadly, this is the end of fair week for us in Southeastern Idaho.  The Eastern Idaho State Fair ends tomorrow for the year.  We hope that you've enjoyed your local county and state fairs as well.

The story of this photo starts out with us making a photo trip seeking another image entirely.  The sunset that day was simply stunning.  I came back with a really nice shot of pink clouds with a touch of orange.  I kind of felt sad that I couldn't get another shot of that sunset because it was so spectacular.

On the interstate I had noticed that the carnival rides for the fair were going up.  On the way back, I still had some nice light so I decided to try for a different kind of shot.  I wanted to try out a shot of the Ferris wheel with the dramatic clouds still present in the sky.

We pulled off and hurried to the fairgrounds.  Thankfully, the light wasn't faded off completely.  The gates were open too.  I grabbed my camera out again and started making quick tracks to find where I wanted to shoot from.  I was very much against the clock with this shot.

I found that there were several different obstructions to my view as I was scouting.  The various rides and carnival game tents were often blocking the view of the big wheel.  I had to get quite close before I could remove them from the frame.

When I felt I had the best shot I could get, I set up my tripod and got to work.  The wind was blowing the flags around a lot so it got a bit difficult to get the shot without flapping flags everywhere.  I waited for the right moment and took the shot.
