Photo of the Week 114

Photo of the Week 114
It's another beautiful Friday with the weekend really close at hand.  Don't worry, we've got what you need to help get you through till 5pm when you can clock out and go home.  It's time to check out Cramer Imaging's featured "Photo of the Week."  Today we've chosen something rather seasonal for Halloween.  We have a photo of black silhouette with an orange sunset.

This is a photograph with a story of me seeking another image entirely when I captured this photo.  We had set out to the Teton mountain scenic turnout near Teton, Idaho.  It was a gorgeous and clear summer night that also happened to be warm.  It was ideal creature comforts that evening.

I set up my tripod with my main camera pointing towards the mountains and waiting for just the right moment to snap photos of the landscape scene.  To entertain myself, I pulled out my backup camera and started taking pictures of the rest of the area.  You never know when you will get something good.

As sunset approached, I started keeping closer to the tripod for when the light would be right.  I happened to turn around, checking the position of the sun, and saw the scene below.  The sky was lit up orange and the rest of the landscape was darkened.  I also noticed some amazing shadows peeking out from over the top of the clouds.  It was too much to resist.

I grabbed my camera and started chasing this scene back up the road a ways.  I wanted to get a few street signs and other obstacles out of the shot.  I knew that there was a limited time for me to get this shot in addition to the other which I had set out to get in the first place.

As I was trying to get this shot, I kept getting scolded by my spouse.  I wasn't focusing on the shot we came to get and that was concerning.  I did some reassuring by returning to the tripod and getting some of those photos taken too.

After we returned home and I got this photograph processed up, we both agreed that this wasn't a waste of time for me to take pictures of.
