Photo of the Week 138

Photo of the Week 138
Need a break in your day?  Then we've got some good news for you.  We've got just what you need: Cramer Imaging's featured "Photo of the Week."  Your boss is just fine with you checking it out.  This week, we pulled something special out of our archives.  We've got a beautiful photograph of white cherry blossoms blooming.

I had been wanting to get a photograph of some beautiful cherry blossoms for my portfolio.  I had been seeing photos that others had been taking year after year.  I wanted one for myself.  We had planted a cherry tree in the back yard but I still had to wait a few years for it to bloom.

When it did finally bloom, I went out for some pictures.  My first rounds were not so good.  At least, I found them less than satisfactory.  The tree was not formed enough for what I had in mind.  It needed to grow more.

Last year, I decided to try again to see if I could get the cherry blossom shot I wanted.  This time, it was a success.  The tree had grown up enough for me this time.  There's about a three week window where these flowers bloom that I can try for the shot.

I made sure that I found just the right flowers for this shot.  I waited for just the right light to get the shot.  Then I pulled out my camera and found just the right angle.  It's never the first shot that I try.  It's always towards the end of my photo session that I get the best shots.  This time was no exception.

It was post-processing where this photo really started to shine.  I found ways to brighten the photo over all and gave it a soft warm feel befitting the beauty of the flowers depicted.  The result is one of my favorite springtime photos to date.
