Photo of the Week 148

Photo of the Week 148
Hey, it's almost the summer solstice.  The longest day of the year is approaching.  Have you got any exciting adventures or other plans yet?  Perhaps today's featured "Photo of the Week" by Cramer Imaging will help inspire some thoughts for summertime adventures.  The best are unexpected after all.

This photo of a duck swimming was one of those moments of serendipity.  The duck came flying in at just the right moment to just the right place.  We found ourselves an unwilling photo subject that day after he arrived.

We were just concluding a photo session of a different subject and about to walk back to the car when in flew this duck.  He was alone and decided that he wanted to take an extended swim in the fountain you see in the picture.  This was too good of an opportunity to pass up on so I pulled out my camera again and started taking more photos.

This duck was not happy that I was very interested in him.  He kept swimming around to the other side of the fountain to avoid me.  With my telephoto lens, it still wasn't enough to get that tight shot on the duck that I wanted.  I had to ask my spouse to walk around and scare the duck back towards me.

We went through several rounds of this.  The duck would swim away from me, my spouse would follow him around to bring him back.  Then, he would see how close he was to me and take off around the water again.  During that time, I managed to capture the shot which is our "Photo of the Week."
