Photo of the Week 153

Photo of the Week 153
Hello again fans.  It's Friday again.  It's time to check out our chosen "Photo of the Week."  This week, we've got something for you which should inspire.  We've got a beautiful photograph of the St. George temple during the summertime.  Your boss approves of this creative break.  Enjoy and keep reading for more.

It was a hot summer day when we arrived in St. George for this photo shoot.  We weren't accustomed to the heat of the American Southwest desert.  It was overwhelming.  We were panting and sadly low on water.  We couldn't stay outside except in small doses.

We took a circle around the temple grounds looking for every patch of shade we could to protect us from the blistering heat.  Fortunately, there were lots of trees which we could quickly travel between their shady patches.

We took several different shots of different angles on the oldest LDS temple still currently in operation.  May of them just didn't work.  This is typical.  I thought that my photo shoot time would burn up in the heat and the impatience of the driver keeping the car cool for us.  This was happily not the case.

We wandered over the the south side of the temple and found a tree which I could stand under and cool off.  There was an artist out there painting under it as well.  As I looked, I noticed that I could get the lower most branches of the tree into the frame of the camera.  I decided to try the shot.

When it came to post-processing this photo, there was a lot of work to do.  I had to find a way to compensate for the direct sunlight but still retain the look and feel of the bright sunny day we were melting under.  It took a lot but the final result was this photo you see before you.
