With my camera as my passport, I travel around taking landscape photos as the opportunity presents.  Lately, the wind blew me in the direction of glorious fall colors on the trees.  They are short lived, especially when the cold and frost set in.  This is why I wanted to get out and take photos while I could.  Adding to my fall foliage collection has been on my mind lately.

Most of my autumn leaf photos are close-ups.  You could even be consider them macros.  This time I wanted something with a bit wider view.  I also needed to check out some of the other local scenery.  Much of what I have been taking pictures of has been Bryce Canyon.

I decided to check out the famous Utah Highway 143 known for its particularly beautiful view of autumn colors.  While out, I also encountered Panguitch Lake (a place I received a recommendation to several times by locals).  Since there was plenty of color, I went for a landscape photo of the lake with the yellow leaves on the mountain in the background.

The winds were driving the waves on surface of the lake.  This made any reflections in the water impossible for this scouting session/photo shoot.  The moon was also rising so I had to include it in the shot.

This scene was quite different from the red desert I’ve been used to shooting lately.  I’ll have to go back and try for some other photos of Panguitch Lake in the future.

While I was out, I also managed to try for several closer shots of deciduous trees.  There was plenty of golden yellow to go around.  Orange and red were a little difficult to find.  However, there were a few trees which stood out from the rest.  These golden sisters made for some amazing photography.

This gorgeous photo makes for a beautiful addition to my portfolio.  It’s wonderful to add to a section of my portfolio which has been needing some expansion.
